Best Practices for Harvesting and Cleaning Seed

seed saving, workshopThe rain just missed us for the Best Practices for Harvesting and Cleaning Seeds workshop at Urban Harvest's farm near Campbellcroft.
Thanks to all who came out despite the weather and thank you to Urban Harvest and Urban Tomato for teaching all of us about seed saving and for the delicious local snacks afterwards.

 

Flint Corn Community Open House - this Sunday!

 

Only 2 more days until the Flint Corn Community Project Open House, where Farms at Work and Tracks have been growing corn, squash, and beans in mounds along with tobacco and sunflowers. There will be a demonstration of corn lyeing, braiding, food to sample and more.

Special offer for New Farmers - Women in Agriculture Conference

Farms at Work is pleased to announce a unique opportunity that will provide the first 15 new and beginning female farmers operating for less than 5 years with a partial registration to the Advancing Women Conference on Tuesday October 4th. This afternoon program includes a 1.5 hour panel of five experienced women farmers - including four from Ontario. The conference will be held at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.
