REMINDER: Squash Bee Field Walk @ Buckhorn Berry Farm Tomorrow

Join Us as We Hunt for Squash Bees @ Buckhorn Berry Farm

Pollination Biologist and Farms at Work Project Manager, Susan Chan, will be leading a search of the pumpkin and squash patches at Buckhorn Berry Farm from 9-11am tomorrow morning for Peponapis pruinosa, commonly known as the Squash Bee.

Susan and her colleagues, farmer Sam McLean and OMAF minor crop pest product specialist Jim Chaput, will be on hand to teach us how to identify this bee. They will also discuss its behaviour and importance to Cucurbit crops, as well as how it is affected by crop management techniques, such as cultivation, crop rotation and insecticide use.

This is a field walk you don't want to miss! RSVP with Jay Adam by this evening: (705) 743-7671 / jay@farmsatwork.ca
